Always Forward

I am happy to report that November was a much better month than the disaster that was October. I participated in NaNoWriMo, but I didn't finish because I didn't want to. I realized that the fun factor had worn off so I let it go. I then spent the time I was spending writing catching up with Project Life and re-kindling my interest in art journalling. I'm finally considering myself caught up with Project Life. October is complete up until Thanksgiving and the first half of November is 'roughed in'. I'm still debating/leaning towards documenting weekly in 2017.

As for my goal of being a lady with a plan again after Plans A - Z were total fails from August - October I have made a lot of progress but nothing is for certain yet. I have an interview for a full time, year round, permanent position at a camp next week. I'm hopeful, but if I've learned anything over the past few months it's that competition is fierce and possibly out of control...like requesting audition videos out of control. I want a job, not a spot on The Amazing Race (although, if this doesn't work out maybe reality TV is an avenue I should explore).

My goals for December are a little dependant on how the interview goes, if all goes well then I'm going to spend some time figuring out the logistics of moving across the country. And if it doesn't go well then I will be in pursuit of a Plan B...and maybe also C-Z,  but we'll focus on Plan A for now.

All of the things I've ordered online have arrived at the house this week, except for Old Navy so I officially have 90% of my Christmas shopping done and in my possession. I need to get a few little things to go along with my mom's and figure out exactly what to get my father, who is near impossible to shop for. I also need to send out Christmas cards, but it's only the start of December so there's plenty of time to make that happen.

I do want to keep journalling because I fully recognize that when I spend 15-20 minutes before bed doodling and writing not only do I sleep better but I feel a little less overwhelmed. I've been doing a devotional using the YouVersion Bible app which is also helpful.

Last month if I had to choose one symbol to represent life it would have been a big bold question mark. The end of November feels more like an ellipses, there's no definitive answer or solution but there is a lot of potential and possibility. I'd be lying if I said I'd love an exclamation point or some other definitive answer but I'd also be lying if I said I didn't feel okay with where I am now.

What's Up Wednesday: November Edition

What I'm Eating This Week: Breakfast for Supper, perogies, chicken, stuffing & veggies, hamburgers & broccoli salad and an experimental naan bread grilled cheese that turned out delicious!

What I'm Reminiscing About: Nothing in particular, November isn't a very noteworthy month.

What I'm Loving: Global Warming is pretty terrible but I can't deny the fact I'm loving the warm fall we've had. I'm also rekindling my love of making pizzas.

What I've Been Up To: November was SO much better than October. I'm in the hiring process for another job that is pretty far out of my comfort zone but if it works out I'll be super excited. So keep your fingers crossed that this is the one!

What I've Been Dreading: I'm dreading the possibility of this latest job prospect being another no. #realtalk

What I'm Working On: Christmas shopping! I had shopping in huge crowds and feeling rushed so I'm trying to get it all done. There are still a few things I need to get or am waiting to arrive that I ordered online but I've put a good dent in my list.

What I'm Excited About: The possibility of this latest job prospect being a success!

What I'm Watching/Reading: The Curse of Oak Island is back on, which makes me so happy. I've also taken to watching Degrassi because all of the morning talk shows are terrible. On Netflix I'm watching How I Met Your Mother and I haven't read any novels this month.

What I'm Listening To: Lately when I'm getting ready or doing something else I have Plan With Me videos playing in the background. I'm excited to put my Happy Planner to use in the new year.
What I'm Wearing: It's been unseasonably warm here so I've been wearing my spring jacket a lot along with jeans  and a long sleeved top whenever I venture outside.
What I'm Doing This Weekend: Celebrating my grandparents 50th wedding anniversary and having our Spark/Brownie enrolment ceremony.

*She may also move to the mountains

What I'm Looking Forward to Next Moth: Hopefully getting some good news on the job front!

What Else Is New: I feel a little less stressed and overwhelmed this month. I still don't have any real answers about what happens next but I feel a little more okay with that. As long as I keep reminding myself that everything happens for a reason and what is meant to be will find a way.

What's My Favourite Thanksgiving Memory/Tradition? My favourite Thanksgiving tradition is blog readers being surprised to find out that in Canada we celebrate Thanksgiving in October.

What's Up Wednesday: September Edition

This whole 'I'm going to start blogging again' has (obviously) not been going well. I haven't totally abandoned it just yet but there is a lot of room for improvement. I realized that it's the last Wednesday of the month and What's Up Wednesday felt like a nice easy post to put together as I drink my coffee this morning.

What I'm Eating This Week: I'm still in the phase of being so excited that I have full control over meals after a summer of camp meals. I made a big bowl of broccoli salad to have for lunch this week and suppers so far have been homemade pizza, chicken & baked potato and mac & cheese.

What I'm Reminiscing About: I've been working on playing catch up with my Project Life album which has lead to a lot of reminiscing about my trip to Toronto back in the spring!

What I'm Loving: Sparks, Carmel Coffee, Project Life, The Happy Planner, Pretzels & Tzatziki.

What I've Been Up To: I've mostly been job hunting and crossing my fingers that 2017 will be the year I finally end the cycle of contract jobs. I've joined a new Spark group closer to home and we've already had two meetings which have been full of fun and adorableness.

What I've Been Dreading: I can't say I've really been dreading anything.

What I'm Working On: I made a Project Life album specifically for camp and it's about 75% completed. I have 3.5 weeks left to add journalling and embellishments to before it can go on the shelf.

What I'm Excited About: Typically I don't enjoy Octobers but this year I'm kind of looking forward to Thanksgiving weekend, a Spark Camp and a Friends-giving weekend.

What I'm Watching/Reading: I've jumped on the 'This is Us' bandwagon! I'm also loving this season of Survivor, after spending the summer with a bunch of 20  year old counsellors I feel Zeke big time, I'm rooting for him. I've also been watching the new seasons of Deadliest Catch & Ice Road Truckers. I've also been watching 60 Days In, which is totally fascinating but also nightmare inducing. I watched the premiere of Grey's Anatomy but I was so horrified by it all I was just filled with longing for the days of Derek & Meredith.
I'm working on finishing a few books that I started this summer and never finished.

What I'm Listening To: My most played Apple Music playlists right now are "2016 CCMA Awards Nominees", "Minivan Hits: Family Roadtrip" and "Country Caffeine".

What I'm Wearing: Leggings & hoodies! I haven't broken out the boots yet, I'm wearing flip flops for as long as possible.

What I'm Doing This Weekend: Saturday I have an afternoon Girl Guide Cookie Booth but that's the only thing on my agenda!

What I'm Looking Forward to Next Moth: See all the things listed in "What I'm Excited About" and hopefully add a job interview to that list!

What Else Is New: I can't think of anything else to add, September has been a fairly slow moving month!

What's My Favourite Fall Recipe? I don't like soups and I prefer to keep my pumpkin spice in pumpkin pie where it belongs. So I'm going to choose mac & cheese as my favourite fall recipe...even though it's an all year round type of meal.

Currently: Catch Up Edition

Since I missed four months of 'Currently' posts it feels fitting to resume that tradition as I dip my toes back into the blogging world.

Reading... I just finished reading 'The Firelight Girls' and am about to start  The Secrets of Midwives.
Playing... I haven't really been playing much of anything.
Watching... I re-watched a lot of How I Met Your Mother this summer. Lately I've been watching a lot My 600 lb Life and awaiting the start of a new season of 90 Day Fiance.
Trying...  To get everything unpacked and organized, finish my Project Life album from the summer and fill in the gaps of the one I've been working on all year.
Cooking... Summer is always the worst season for cooking, although since we had a lot of kitchen struggles this year I did spend a lot of time there. Lasagna for 60 anyone?
Eating... Nothing particularly noteworthy, mostly I'm just enjoying eating on my own time and eating things I want to eat.
Drinking... I drank a lot of dark pop and lime this summer.
Calling... Still trying to work out paperwork and final pays from the office job I had last winter/spring. It's just as much of a nightmare as it sounds.
Texting... H. & R. and N.
Pinning... Project Life Freebies, especially printable labels.
Going... No plans to go anywhere any time soon.
Loving... That the ice cube tray is always full and I no longer share a bathroom with 25 other people.
Hating... It's back to being dark out at 8:00 p.m. and that makes me sad.
Discovering... I really do know myself better than anyone else.
Thinking... Right now I'm primarily thinking about lunch.
Feeling... Peaceful. Content.
Hoping (for)... A really stellar interview, followed by a job that doesn't end in four months.
Listening (to)... H. got me hooked on Apple Music so I've been re-discovering some old favourites I had forgotten about and happily singing along to some recent country hits.
Celebrating... There's a lot of fall birthdays in my life.
Smelling... Nothing in this moment, but I was just thinking I should see what candles are stashed in my candle drawer.
Ordering... No ordering for this gal. There is absolutely nothing I need.
Thankful for... Endings & Beginnings.
Considering... How to make blogging part of my routine again without making it feel like a chore.
Starting... To blog again!
Finishing... Project Life Album for the summer!

April Currently

In some ways I feel like I blinked and April went by and in other ways I can't believe it's still April. I wasn't going to blog today, even though I have a growing list of things I want to write about I haven't been able to sit down and dedicate time to making that happen. Then I realized that I don't want to break my streak of monthly currently posts! The shoe photos are making for a top notch first page in my Project Life album and I know I will appreciate have this little snapshot into life. So without further ado, here's what's been going on this month.

Reading... I'm about to start Let's Pretend This Never Happened by Jenny Lawson. And officially end months of failing to read anything except Buzzfeed articles.
Playing... I didn't do much playing this month. Now that it's nicer outside I've spent some time playing with my camera, which always makes me happy.
Watching... Big Brother Canada, I've skipped a couple of episodes because I can't handle grown ups throwing tantrums. I've also been keeping up to date with Criminal Minds and watching Project Life process videos on YouTube.
Trying... I spent a large part of this month trying to be optimistic now I'm trying not to worry.
Cooking... I didn't cook anything exciting this month. I had a couple Pinterest disappointments but other than that I've been making a lot of easy chicken & veggie type meals.
Eating... I ate a lot of pitas again this month and I don't regret a single one!
Drinking... Iced Coffee season is upon us!
Calling... Lots of phone calls trying to figure out and fix mistakes with paycheques. It's the most fun. (NOT)
Texting... Mostly H. & R. this month and J.
Pinning... I was chosen to be a Guider for a provincial camp later in the summer so I've been pinning some theme ideas and badge work related to that.
Tweeting... Whatever Bloglovin' sends out automatically.
Going... To visit H.!
Loving... Sunshine, trip planning and mountains. I've developed a slight obsession with mountains this month.
Hating... Hate feels like a strong word, but I'm pretty bummed that the cycle of contract positions will be continuing for awhile long.
Discovering... I'm not sure that I've discovered anything life altering this month. April was a weird month.
Thinking... Currently thinking I need to change the channel because Rachael Ray is hurting my brain. And also that I do not understand this face swapping business.
Feeling... So excited to see H.! This time tomorrow we will be reunited and going on adventures.
Hoping (for)... I'm not really sure. There's nothing particularly big on the horizon.
Listening (to)... Still listening to Bringing Up BettyStuff You Missed in History Class and Camp Code podcasts. I've also been playing Soul on Fire by Third Day and Greater by Mercy Me on repeat.
Celebrating... Spring. I am really freaking excited that spring is (more or less) here and summer is just around the corner. I'm a happier person when there isn't snow on the ground.
Smelling... Right now I'm smelling bacon, on a more regular basis I'm smelling fresh air!
Ordering... I scored a great discount for a Studio Calico documenter kit so I went ahead and ordered that and am waiting for it to arrive!
Thankful for... Besties, Skype, Group Messages, Food, Family, Sleep.
Considering... September plans, although I'm trying not to because it's months away and worrying about it doesn't do a darn thing.
Starting... To jump into camp planning.
Finishing... Office Job! Today is my last day and I'm pretty excited.

February Currently

Reading... Nothing that I felt very passionate about in terms of novels. I did start reading the Savor devotional and even though I'm only a week in so far I'm pretty happy with my purchase.
Playing... Still playing 1010!
Watching... I've been watching Top Chef on a weekly basis. I've caught up with the last few episodes of Big Bang Theory and caught up with Criminal Minds.
Trying... to catch up on sleep. I am all over the map lately and I would love to get back on a regular sleep schedule.
Cooking... I haven't been cooking anything elaborated lately.
Eating... Lots of pitas with tzatziki, chicken and feta cheese.
Drinking... Coffee, Hot Chocolate, Water and the occasionally Pop for good balance.
Calling... Nobody! Which is great, I hate calling people.
Texting... The usual crew. H., R., J. and N.. Sometimes the ladies I carpool with to work.
Pinning... Craft Ideas, quotes and project life ideas.
Tweeting... Mostly just the automatic tweet from Bloglovin' when a post is published.
Going... Still waiting to find about work before I make any plans. I was hoping to know this week but it doesn't look promising.
Loving... Winter is half way through. I would say almost over but I assume we'll have our typical April snowstorm.
Hating... The weather. It's cold, it's warm, it's snowing, it's raining. There is green grass and blue sky, there's freezing rain. I don't know what's happening and I never know what shoes to wear.
Discovering... I don't think I discovered anything life altering this month.
Thinking... About what I'm going to have for lunch.
Feeling... Sleepy.
Hoping (for)... Concrete information about work being extended or not extended so I can get on with my life.
Listening (to)... Podcasts! Camp Code has been my go to this month and I've also discovered Bringing Up Betty which I'm enjoying so far.
Celebrating... I ate a lot of cake in February. A belated birthday cake for me, birthday cake for my mom, leftover cake my brother's girlfriend brought over, Valentine's Day cake at work,  cupcakes at work because of a storm.
Smelling... Still enjoying the Winter Sun B&BW candle, although it hasn't matched the weather which has kind of been bothering me.
Ordering... I ordered this stamp set on a bit of a whim (mostly to use up a visa gift card) we'll see what happens when it gets here.
Thankful for... The local news. This might sound weird but whenever I happen to click on news for a big city or when I was in Florida last month I'm always surprised by the news. So many murders and standoffs and robberies. Around here it's weather and animal stories 75% of the time. The other 25% is pretty depressing but I'm thankful to live in a pretty safe part of the world.
Considering... I know it's way early, but I'm going to say it anyway...post-camp plans. Sigh.
Starting... It felt like a started a lot of things this month - books, Project Life layouts, lists, camp projects...
Finishing... You might assume since I started so many projects this month I would have finished a lot of them. This assumption is wrong. I have ticked off a handful of stuff on my "Things to do Before Pre-Camp" list but other than that there is a lot of half finished stuff lying around.

January Currently

Reading... I just finished The Princess Diaries : Royal Wedding by Meg Cabot. I love Princess Mia. Amelia is one of my favourite names because of that character. I loved 'catching up' with Mia through this book, it was a light read but I enjoyed it all the same.
Playing... I downloaded a game called '1010' and it was a great find. It's similar to Tetris (which I love) but has a little twist to it.
Watching... The Curse of Oak Island! It's the one show that I make sure I'm up to date with each week. I've also been following Top Chef.
Trying... To eat more veggies and drink more water.
Cooking... Chicken, rice, veggies, pasta. Nothing too fancy this month. I do have ingredients to make Thai Chicken soup over the weekend, so hopefully that goes well.
Eating... I've perfected the baked potato so I've been eating those pretty frequently.
Drinking... I've always been under the impression green tea is gross, it turns out while regular green tea isn't my jam, ginger green tea is delicious! So I've been drinking lots of that. Along with water and the occasional pop.
Calling... Nobody! Which is great, I hate calling people.
Texting... The usual crew. H., R., J. and N.. Sometimes the ladies I carpool with to work.
Pinning... I didn't too much pinning this month. Now that I'm officially decided about camp (more on that later) I'm sure I will be pinning camp things soon.
Tweeting... Nothing too exciting.
Going... back to camp!
Loving... R. gave me a Five Year Journal for Christmas and it's so great. I haven't missed a day yet which makes me very happy. And also carpooling to work because it eliminates the parking game (for the most part).
Hating... Winter.
Discovering... Turns out I'm actually a Disney World fan and it is true that you can throughly enjoy the experience even if you don't do rides.
Thinking... I'm starting to feel more organized and on task, which is a great day in my books.
Feeling... content, inspired and optimistic.
Hoping (for)... time this weekend to work on blog posts, make valentine's for the Sparks and a quick and painless Guider meeting on Sunday.
Listening (to)... I'm years behind the bandwagon, but I listened to the first season of Serial!
Celebrating... My birthday...sort of, I worked on my birthday so it mostly involved J. brining me chicken strips for supper and a weekend Skype date with H. & R.. I save the big celebrating for my half birthday in July.
Smelling... A B&BW candle called 'Winter Sunshine' or something along those lines, it's yellow and I'm a fan.
Ordering... Maybe some new books. I have a gift card from Christmas that I think I'll use to invest in a few things off my reading list.
Thankful for... all the F's, food, family, friends, faith.
Considering... a trip to visit H. either in the spring or during a break this summer depending on how long my current work contract lasts.
Starting... to think about camp and
Finishing... Right now I need to finish getting ready for work.

December Currently

Reading... I'm finally reading The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up by Marie Kondo. The verdict is still out as to whether or not it's going to be truly life changing.
Playing... I've been playing Sims Freeplay on my iPhone!
Watching... I'm still very into The Curse of Oak Island. I ended up watching 90 Day Fiance finale and after show because I was just so curious about it all. I also randomly watched a lot of Mystery Diners a couple weeks back.
Trying... To get all of my Christmas shopping done and wrapped!
Cooking... I have been slacking in the cooking department lately. I have been making a lot of breakfast for supper themed meals, most notably pancakes and bacon.
Eating... Breakfast foods! And popcorn.
Drinking... Coffee and water have been my beverages of choice this month.
Calling... Nobody! Which is great, I hate calling people.
Texting... This answer really doesn't change month to month, J., H., R. and N.
Pinning... I was pinning a lot of Christmas games and craft ideas for Sparks. Once I got that sorted out I was pinning Disney tips & tricks and continuing with the Project Life inspiration.
Tweeting... Nothing too exciting.
Going... to Florida in a few weeks.
Loving... The first thing that came to mind was thick cut ripple plain chips that have been my go to snack as of lately. That seems pretty shallow though, I assure you there are many other things I'm loving snacks just happen to be at the forefront of my mind right now.
Hating... Television. I've been making a conscious effort to watch less and to only watch the shows I'm watching and not the constant
Discovering... How easy it is to lose track of time and end up accomplishing a whole lot of nothing after a whole lot of time.
Thinking... The whole world seems to be obsessed with Star Wars and I would really like everyone to just calm down about the aliens? robots? ninjas? I don't even know what the characters are supposed to be, I just want them to go away. Or at least stay away from my snack foods.
Feeling... I think the best way to sum up my current emotions and mood is "cautiously optimistic" and a little overwhelmed.
Hoping (for)... I don't like travelling in winter so I am hoping that things stay mild so that I can go to the city to see H., R. & N. over Christmas and that we can get from here to Florida and back without being interrupted by a snow storm!
Listening (to)... Lots of Stuart McLean's Christmas stories. I haven't listened to 'Dave Cooks the Turkey' yet though, I'm saving that for closer to Christmas.
Celebrating... Christmas!
Smelling... There's a cinnamon scented thing in the scentsy so I've been smelling that a lot. Once the tree goes up the house will smell like Christmas!
Ordering... Nothing. I've given up on ordering things online.
Thankful for... Living close to family and having (weather dependant) plans to see friends over Christmas.
Considering... The options for 2016, especially when it comes to camp.
Starting... To think about Ali Edward's One Little Word project for 2016 and how to incorporate that into Project Life or if I'll make a separate scrapbook/journal for that particular project.
Finishing... It feels like I haven't finished anything in forever. I've started a lot of things or thought about starting but I need to see about a dozen things through to completion.

What's Up Wednesday: November Edition

It's the last Wednesday of the month which means I'm linking up with Shay for What's Up Wednesday

What I'm Eating...
Pizza & Garlic Fingers, Spicy Chicken Tacos, Lasagna, Chicken Quesadillas.

What I'm Reminiscing About...Facebook has been showing me photos from formals during university so I've briefly been reminiscing about those days.

What I'm loving... This week I've been admiring these Project Life layouts

What I've Been Up To...

I have learned over the last couple of weeks that people legitimately spend more time planning their vacations to Disney World than they spend planning their weddings. And since I'm a planner by nature and thrive off of a well organized schedule it's hard for all the Disney planning not to consume my life. So I'm limiting myself to how many "insider tips" I read each day and reminding myself that it's all going to be okay.

What I'm Dreading... Winter. Thumbs down for winter.

What I'm Working On... Making decisions about what I want to do next year. And Christmas shopping, but that's about half way done.

What I'm Excited About... My 52 Things in 52 Weeks list! It was a lot harder to come up with 52 things I want to do/accomplish in the 52 weeks on 2016 but I'm almost finished. It'll be up on the blog in December sometime once my header is updated!

What I'm Watching/Reading...

The Curse of Oak Island, Gail Vaz Oxlade's 'Princesss' and Hockey Wives.

I didn't read a darn thing this month. #oops

What I'm Listening To... I feel like I'm the only person on the planet who isn't constantly listening to music. Usually I'm listening to a tv show in the background if I'm doing something, occasionally I'll listen to a CD in the car but most of the time it's whatever is on the radio.

What I'm Wearing... It's officially Ugg season. My go to outfit for running errands is leggings, boots and a flannel shirt or fitted hoodie. My go to going out outfit is jeans and a cozy sweater.

What I'm Doing This Weekend... Possibly two Christmas parades (one Friday night and one Saturday night) but if it's cold I'm probably going to opt out.

What I'm Looking forward to next month... Last year I didn't have a lot of time off work over Christmas so it will be nice to enjoy more of the Christmas season opposed to just Christmas Day & Boxing Day.

What Else is New... I can't think of anything!

Favourite Christmas Tradition... I like Christmas Eve. We go to church and then to my aunt and uncles for a late supper afterwards. It's also a fun day when the Christmas tree goes up!

November Currently

Reading... Not a darn thing...I really need to do something about that, it's been a weird month.
Playing... J. and I have been playing Trivial Pursuit Steal. I've kind of been itching to re-kindle my love of playing The Sims, but I haven't actually played.
Watching... On TV it's Leave it to Bryan, Hockey Wives and The Curse of Oak Island. On YouTube I'm all about the "Project Life Process Videos".
Trying... To get all of my Christmas shopping done before the stores get busy.
Cooking... A lot of chicken! In the form of chicken parm, tacos, chicken and rice and standard roasted chicken breast.
Eating... Nothing really sticks out this month (other than all the chicken). I have been making more of an effort to eat breakfast which usually consists of an english muffin with sausage and cheddar cheese.
Drinking...  Coffee, water, pop, chocolate milk, chai and peppermint tea. Apparently I've been drinking a lot of different beverages this month!
Calling... Nobody! Which is great, I hate calling people.
Texting... My phone is nearing the end of it's life so I haven't been using it as much lately. When I do it's to communicate with the usual suspects - H. & R., J. and N.
Pinning... Inspiration for Project Life and ideas for Sparks.
Tweeting... I'm going to get better at this, perhaps in 2016 because I don't see it happening in the next few weeks.
Going... Florida in January! Tickets are officially booked.
Loving... Exchanging e-mails with Alex, her & I have been paired together for the Blogging Elite Christmas swap!
Hating... The weather. The leaves are all off the trees and the pretty part of fall has come to an end. Now it's just grey, cold, damp and dreary outside. And also I didn't read any books this month.
Discovering... Everyone and their grandmother has an opinion about Disney World!
Thinking... I am pretty excited that the only thing on my to do list today is catching up on TV shows!
Feeling... Things are starting to level out but I still need to get better at balancing things.
Hoping (for)... Success. And that Anna Duggar recovers from the whole mess and goes on to lead a happy life with all the freedom she's entitled to as a human being.
Listening (to)... Vinyl Cafe Podcasts. Someday I will see Stuart MacLean live and it will be fantastic.
Celebrating... J.'s birthday was earlier this month
Smelling... Bath & Body Works 'flannel' candle.
Ordering... Nothing, because shipping to Canada is ridiculous. In the past few weeks I've tried to order $4 planner stickers only to discover shipping to Canada was going to cost me $12. And I found the cutest Christmas ornament for J. that was on clearance for $10 but shipping was $25.
Thankful for... I have some awesome little Sparks and those Sparks are being raised by some awesome parents. I am so thankful that (so far) I've been dealing with awesome parents who are really appreciative and genuinely nice people.
Considering... My options. Evaluating the big picture and figuring out how I can do the things I want to do and live where I want to live.
Starting... Planning for a Spark/Brownie camp in the new year and to think about what my game plan is going to be in terms of camp life.
Finishing... I'm almost done my list of 52 things I want to do in 2016. I still need about ten more things but I'm hoping to be finished by the end of this month.
