What's Up Wednesday: September Edition

This whole 'I'm going to start blogging again' has (obviously) not been going well. I haven't totally abandoned it just yet but there is a lot of room for improvement. I realized that it's the last Wednesday of the month and What's Up Wednesday felt like a nice easy post to put together as I drink my coffee this morning.

What I'm Eating This Week: I'm still in the phase of being so excited that I have full control over meals after a summer of camp meals. I made a big bowl of broccoli salad to have for lunch this week and suppers so far have been homemade pizza, chicken & baked potato and mac & cheese.

What I'm Reminiscing About: I've been working on playing catch up with my Project Life album which has lead to a lot of reminiscing about my trip to Toronto back in the spring!

What I'm Loving: Sparks, Carmel Coffee, Project Life, The Happy Planner, Pretzels & Tzatziki.

What I've Been Up To: I've mostly been job hunting and crossing my fingers that 2017 will be the year I finally end the cycle of contract jobs. I've joined a new Spark group closer to home and we've already had two meetings which have been full of fun and adorableness.

What I've Been Dreading: I can't say I've really been dreading anything.

What I'm Working On: I made a Project Life album specifically for camp and it's about 75% completed. I have 3.5 weeks left to add journalling and embellishments to before it can go on the shelf.

What I'm Excited About: Typically I don't enjoy Octobers but this year I'm kind of looking forward to Thanksgiving weekend, a Spark Camp and a Friends-giving weekend.

What I'm Watching/Reading: I've jumped on the 'This is Us' bandwagon! I'm also loving this season of Survivor, after spending the summer with a bunch of 20  year old counsellors I feel Zeke big time, I'm rooting for him. I've also been watching the new seasons of Deadliest Catch & Ice Road Truckers. I've also been watching 60 Days In, which is totally fascinating but also nightmare inducing. I watched the premiere of Grey's Anatomy but I was so horrified by it all I was just filled with longing for the days of Derek & Meredith.
I'm working on finishing a few books that I started this summer and never finished.

What I'm Listening To: My most played Apple Music playlists right now are "2016 CCMA Awards Nominees", "Minivan Hits: Family Roadtrip" and "Country Caffeine".

What I'm Wearing: Leggings & hoodies! I haven't broken out the boots yet, I'm wearing flip flops for as long as possible.

What I'm Doing This Weekend: Saturday I have an afternoon Girl Guide Cookie Booth but that's the only thing on my agenda!

What I'm Looking Forward to Next Moth: See all the things listed in "What I'm Excited About" and hopefully add a job interview to that list!

What Else Is New: I can't think of anything else to add, September has been a fairly slow moving month!

What's My Favourite Fall Recipe? I don't like soups and I prefer to keep my pumpkin spice in pumpkin pie where it belongs. So I'm going to choose mac & cheese as my favourite fall recipe...even though it's an all year round type of meal.

Currently: Catch Up Edition

Since I missed four months of 'Currently' posts it feels fitting to resume that tradition as I dip my toes back into the blogging world.

Reading... I just finished reading 'The Firelight Girls' and am about to start  The Secrets of Midwives.
Playing... I haven't really been playing much of anything.
Watching... I re-watched a lot of How I Met Your Mother this summer. Lately I've been watching a lot My 600 lb Life and awaiting the start of a new season of 90 Day Fiance.
Trying...  To get everything unpacked and organized, finish my Project Life album from the summer and fill in the gaps of the one I've been working on all year.
Cooking... Summer is always the worst season for cooking, although since we had a lot of kitchen struggles this year I did spend a lot of time there. Lasagna for 60 anyone?
Eating... Nothing particularly noteworthy, mostly I'm just enjoying eating on my own time and eating things I want to eat.
Drinking... I drank a lot of dark pop and lime this summer.
Calling... Still trying to work out paperwork and final pays from the office job I had last winter/spring. It's just as much of a nightmare as it sounds.
Texting... H. & R. and N.
Pinning... Project Life Freebies, especially printable labels.
Going... No plans to go anywhere any time soon.
Loving... That the ice cube tray is always full and I no longer share a bathroom with 25 other people.
Hating... It's back to being dark out at 8:00 p.m. and that makes me sad.
Discovering... I really do know myself better than anyone else.
Thinking... Right now I'm primarily thinking about lunch.
Feeling... Peaceful. Content.
Hoping (for)... A really stellar interview, followed by a job that doesn't end in four months.
Listening (to)... H. got me hooked on Apple Music so I've been re-discovering some old favourites I had forgotten about and happily singing along to some recent country hits.
Celebrating... There's a lot of fall birthdays in my life.
Smelling... Nothing in this moment, but I was just thinking I should see what candles are stashed in my candle drawer.
Ordering... No ordering for this gal. There is absolutely nothing I need.
Thankful for... Endings & Beginnings.
Considering... How to make blogging part of my routine again without making it feel like a chore.
Starting... To blog again!
Finishing... Project Life Album for the summer!

Pressing The 'Reset' Button

I've been home from camp for three days now. Typically at this point in my post-camp recovery I'm still catching up on sleep, working on wading through the mountain of laundry and sorting through the bags of miscellaneous items I acquired over the summer. This year has been different though, which is fitting because this summer was different.

From the beginning we struggled to find staff and keep them - we lived the first couple of weeks without a head cook and we went through what felt like a never ending stream of counsellors. It was a lot to juggle. And most of the time I felt like I was not being a very good juggler. Ironically in the lead up to this summer I spent more time than ever before figuring out how to juggle work and life and work but so much of the summer was spent just trying to survive that a lot of that went out the window.

I think it all worked out for the best though. I made a lot of good choices this summer, early on I broke up with J. (it was a long time coming) and later on I went ahead and didn't make a decision I knew I would regret farther along down the road. In other exciting news both H. & R. moved back to this side of the country which makes my heart very happy. And a job I've had my eye on for awhile has been posted and if things go the way I'd like them to go I'll get to start 2017 with a shiny new job. That might be getting a little ahead of myself though and there's a lot of (flaming) hoops to jump through between now and that becoming a reality.

For now I'm going to get back into the blogging groove and first up is trying to figure out how the new Bloglovin' works so I can get caught up with all the blogs I didn't read this summer.
